OWNERS of a popular pub and controversial nightclub in Dursley have reapplied for their licences after a closure of several months.
Capones and The Old Bell (Ye Olde Dursley Hotel), both in Long Street, Dursley, closed unexpectedly in early March, and after much speculation it emerged that licences on both premises had expired.
Now two applications have been submitted to Stroud District Council for premises licences – and the news has unsurprising caused a flurry of mixed responses.
Most of the attention has been drawn by Capones, which has a controversial history of suggested links to antisocial behaviour in the area on Saturday nights and Sunday mornings.
A group of residents who did not wished to be named attended a meeting of Dursley Town Council earlier this month to express their frustration about the club, which is currently managing to open on Saturday nights through the use of temporary event notices.
Full details of the license applications are available on the Stroud District and Dursley Town Council websites.
