Knife-wielding Dursley teen told to 'grow up'

A TEENAGER who brandished a kitchen knife at a firefighter and driver before assaulting a police officer in Dursley was told to ‘grow up’. 

Callum Doherty, 18, who was 17 at the time of the incident was almost hit by a car on November 22 last year after walking straight into oncoming traffic.

Afterwards, Doherty of Kingsway, Dursley, threatened the driver with a knife - and also waved the weapon at a firefighter and a police officer. 

The case was heard at Gloucester Crown Court on Tuesday, June 13 where the judge sentenced Doherty to 12 months detention suspended for a year and told him to “grow up”. 

He also issued a 12 month community order with 20 rehabilitation activity days.

Man jailed for pub bomb hoax

A hoaxer who called police claiming he had planted three bombs at a pub sparking a wide scale evacuation was jailed.

Michael Casey, 40, was sentenced to 40 months in prison after he pleaded guilty to a bomb hoax at the Three Lions in Bedminster - and making a second fake threat while in prison on remand.

Casey was sentenced to 40 months imprisonment, half of which will be in custody and half will be served on licence.

Four teenagers convicted of killing 16-year-old Ramarni Crosby

FOUR teenagers were convicted this month of killing 16-year-old Ramarni Crosby during a dispute between rival groups.

Ramarni Crosby - who was from Frampton on Severn - was stabbed to death after being confronted by youths armed with knives in Gloucester in December 2021.

After a two-month trial, Levi Cameron, 18, and two 16-year-old boys were convicted of Ramarni’s manslaughter by majority verdicts.

A fourth defendant, Callum Charles-Quebella, 18, had previously admitted manslaughter.

They were all acquitted of murder by a jury at Bristol Crown Court.

Four other defendants, Dean Smith, 20, and three 17-year-olds were all found not guilty of murder and manslaughter.

A ninth defendant, Keishaleigh Margrett-Whitter, 20, was acquitted of two charges of assisting an offender.

Trial judge Mrs Justice Cutts said she would sentence the four defendants on July 27 and remanded them into custody.

Man charged with murder after prisoner found dead at HMP Bristol

A man appeared in court charged with murdering a prisoner at HMP Bristol.

Michael Harkin, 34, appeared before Bristol Magistrates’ Court on Friday, June 10 charged with murdering Daniel Childs, 38.

Harkin, is also a prisoner at the prison, was arrested on June 5 and later charged with two offences. 

He is charged with murdering Childs and wounding Shane Joyce, also a prisoner, with intent to do him grievous bodily harm.

Convicted Bristol rapist on the run

A convicted rapist failed to appear in court for sentencing.

Watir Ali from Bristol, is wanted on a warrant issued by Bristol Crown Court after failing to appear on Wednesday, June 7. 

Ali, aged 47, had previously been convicted of rape and was recently sentenced in his absence to eight years in prison.

Police say to ring 999 if you know where he is now, and give the reference 5223133652.

Two Dursley men charged after man in 60s attacked 

TWO young men from Dursley have been charged following an alleged attack on a man aged in his 60s earlier this year. 

The man was reportedly attacked by three teenagers in St Aldate Street near Kings Square in Gloucester city centre at around 12.30am on Sunday, January 8. 

In a previous appeal, Gloucestershire police stated that the man suffered "serious injuries" including multiple fractures to his face, a black eye, cuts to his nose and forehead, and a broken ankle that required surgery.

Two men, a 19-year-old from Cam and a 20-year-old from Dursley have been charged with grievous bodily harm. 

A 19-year-old man from Chippenham has also been charged with the same offence. 

The case will be heard at Gloucester Crown Court on Friday, July 14.

Footage shows crash caused by drunk woman driving wrong way on M5

A WOMAN was caught driving the wrong way along the M5 near Tewkesbury and Strensham Services caused a collision involving four vehicles. 

The head-on collision near Strensham Services involved a Mini Cooper and a Vauxhall Astra, and two lorries which were struck and damaged in the incident on October 5 last year.

Dorothy Denny, 65, from Bredon, Worcestershire, who was driving the Mini, provided a roadside breath test that was more than three times the legal limit.

Footage released by Gloucestershire Police shows traffic moving southbound along the motorway before the Mini Cooper appears in the third lane and crashes into an Astra.

Denny admitted causing serious injury by dangerous driving and a charge of drink driving at Gloucester Crown Court.

She was handed a 20-month suspended prison sentence and £10,000 fine and banned for driving for 10 years.

Police officer charged with intentional suffocation

A serving police officer is due to appear in court after being charged with several offences including intentional suffocation.

PC Mitchell Curtis, 33, will appear at Bristol Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, August 3.

He has been charged with two counts of engaging in coercive and controlling behaviour and one count each of intentional suffocation and criminal damage.

The offences, which occurred in the South Gloucestershire area, were reported to Avon and Somerset Police in October 2022.

He is currently on conditional bail.

Arrest warrant issued for man guilty of sexually assaulting girl

AN ARREST warrant has been issued for a man who was found guilty of sexually assaulting a young girl in Wotton-under-Edge. 

Nicholas Cullimore, 53, whose address is listed as Wotton Lawn Hospital in Gloucester was found guilty of inappropriately touching a 15-year-old girl. 

The incident happened at an address in Wotton-under-Edge on November 11, 2021. 

A verdict was proved in Cullimore's absence earlier this year on January 3. 

Cullimore previously pleaded not guilty on November 10 last year. 

A warrant for his arrest was issued at Cheltenham Magistrates’ on Friday, June 16 after Cullimore failed to attend the latest hearing.
